What Happened

The Anchor programme (Director Ko Seok-yong) worked with a local high school on talent for drones, one of Jeju's strategic industries. The Core Talent Development Division (Director Young Joon Lee) ran the two-day Dream High H2O camp with Hallim Technical High School students on 25 and 26 November.

Purpose

The camp aimed at practical understanding of drones and AI. Connecting the university's teaching facilities to the high school curriculum is how the region grows the people it needs.

Theory and Practice Together

  • AI coding and dataFrom AI coding through to flight, the programme covered current practice and built the foundations in AI and data.
  • Actually flyingStudents flew real drones at Namwon Community Gymnasium, taught step by step by instructors from the Jeju Drone Industry Association, from safety through basic flight to mission tasks.
  • Drone soccerThe high point. Flying as a team to score taught precision control and teamwork at once, and the winning teams took home local currency.

A Participant

"I got to learn drone technology I would not normally come near, and it was fun. Doing it alongside AI coding made me think about my own path in concrete terms for the first time."
